A typical day at camp begins with everyone getting ready for breakfast, followed by morning exercises, worship, Bible lessons, and arts and crafts. After lunch, activities vary daily such as bowling, swimming, a presentation at JEMS Family Camp, a carnival, and Special Camp field games. After dinner, we have a time of worship followed by a special evening activity and cabin time. After the campers go to bed, staff enjoy worship and a brief devotional time, staff meeting, and fellowship. Note that this year (2024), due to COVID-19 precautions, Special Camp will not be visiting JEMS Family Camp; afternoon activities will therefore be modified to accommodate this hopefully-temporary 2024 restriction.
All of these events and activities add up to a fun-filled and meaningful program geared specifically for individuals with developmental disabilities. Special Camp is a place where they can come to learn, fellowship, worship, and grow in the Lord.

Throughout the week, God’s love is communicated to the campers through Christ's love as demonstrated by the committed staff of Special Camp volunteers (referred to as "aides"). By the end of the week, relationships are built, “barriers” broken down, and both campers and aides have learned a tremendous amount about themselves, each other, and God. |
| Though many of the volunteers have never worked with the developmentally disabled before, they have shared (see "Testimonials") how they were humbled and convicted by witnessing such simple, child-like faith. In God’s amazing plan, He uses these special ones to minister to the people of the world. |  |
